It appears as though Nikita Filatov has started a trend.
Phoenix Coyotes’ prospect Viktor Tikhonov has left the San Antonio Rampage of the AHL and has returned to Russia to join CSKA Moscow of the KHL.
Tikhonov has been seen in the stands of a KHL game between Spartak and CSKA, watching with his grandfather, the legendary Soviet National team coach Viktor Tikhonov.
It is rumoured that Tikhonov will finish the season in Russia before returning to North America next year to try and crack the Coyotes roster.

Arizona State senior cornerback Terell Carr has been arrested on suspicion of three misdemeanors and booked into a Maricopa County jail.
The 21-year-old Carr was arrested Tuesday, the same day he was suspended indefinitely by Sun Devils coach Dennis Erickson for violating team rules.
Authorities say the arrest involved one count of disorderly conduct for fighting, one count of assault and one count of driving with a suspended license.

Steve Nash heard the whispers in the offseason. He chose to ignore them.
Opting to re-sign with the Phoenix Suns sure looks to have been the right decision for the All-Star point guard.
Jason Richardson scored 29 points, Nash added 21 points and tied his season-high with 20 assists and the Suns beat the Philadelphia 76ers 119-115 on Monday night.
“I was a free agent and it was natural to explore my options,” Nash said. “Some people said I was a little crazy going back to Phoenix because I wouldn’t have as good a chance to win. I liked the team and coaches and I was comfortable.”

Cardinals WR Anquan Boldin didn’t practice Wednesday, three days after aggravating his sprained right ankle.
Boldin said Monday that he hoped to play this weekend against the Bears, and Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt classified his wide receiver as “day to day.”
Boldin hasn’t missed a game this season because of the injury. However, he sat out four games in each of the previous two seasons because of various ailments.
Also missing practice for the Cardinals on Wednesday were DT Darnell Dockett (ankle) and LB Gerald Hayes (back). Both defensive starters haven’t missed a game this season.

The phrase “jumped the shark” has certainly “jumped the shark”.
In fact, saying that the phrase “jump the shark” has “jumped the shark” has, indeed, “jumped the shark” as well.
(Note: “Jumping the shark” is a term used to describe a trend that has become played out and no longer relevant. I add this parenthetical after 80 percent of the people in the newsroom hadn’t heard of the expression. Which may prove my point.)
But in the NFL, a tried and true mindset of the last seven years has jumped the shark, and the Arizona Cardinals are finding out too late.
